How to Replace the iPhone 13 Screen
Managing phone repairs and spare parts inventory is crucial for efficiency. Repair Pro helps you track every screen in your stock and every ticket in your shop. Today, we'll show you how to perform one of the most common repairs: the iPhone 13 screen replacement.
🛠 Tools Needed
- Pentalobe P2 Screwdriver
- Tri-point Y000 Screwdriver
- Phillips #000 Screwdriver
- Suction Handle or iSclack
- Opening Picks
- Heat Gun or Hair Dryer
- Spudger
- New Waterproof Adhesive (Optional)
⚠️ Safety First
Discharge the battery below 25% before starting to prevent thermal events if punctured.
Step 1: Remove Pentalobe Screws
Power off your iPhone. Remove the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge near the charging port.
Step 2: Heat and Open
Apply heat to the bottom edge of the phone for about a minute. Place a suction cup on the screen and pull gently to create a gap. Insert an opening pick into the gap. Tip: The adhesive is strong. Take your time and use more heat if necessary. Slide the pick around the edges to slice the adhesive, but do not insert it too deep (especially on the left side) to avoid damaging display cables.
Step 3: Open the iPhone
Open the iPhone by swinging the display up from the right side, like the cover of a book. Lean the display against a prop; do not try to remove it yet as cables are still attached.
Step 4: Disconnect the Battery
Remove the three screws securing the battery and display connector cover (Y000 and Phillips depending on exact revision). Remove the shield. Use a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up to disconnect it.
Step 5: Disconnect the Display
Disconnect the display cable and the front sensor assembly cable. Remove the display assembly from the phone body.
Step 6: Transfer Sensor Assembly (If needed)
If your new screen does not come with the sensor assembly, remove the screws holding the sensor bracket on the old screen. Apply mild heat and carefully pry out the proximity sensor and microphone. Install them onto the new screen.
Step 7: Reassembly
Connect the new display cables and the battery. Turn on the phone to test the touch and display. If it works, power off, secure the brackets with screws, apply new waterproof adhesive (if available), and close the device. Tighten the two Pentalobe screws.
